I've thought about the evolution of cars for some time. We all know that someday for whatever reason gasoline will go away. At first I thought hydrogen would emerge, but it hasn't really gained any appreciable interest from manufacturers or the public. With hybrids such as Prius and full electric cars like the Teslas, I worry about the perception of these cars. I think many people buy Priuses because they think they will save money or save the environment. But, my opinion is that they will do neither. The batteries and final drives are crazy expensive and the batteries are like nuclear waste... or worse.
Diesel technologies have done nothing but fall flat on their face too. VW is facing damnation for flat out lying to the public about mpg advances they really didn't have.
Tell me your opinion. I would love to know more about what non-automotive people think
